While the idea may seem appealing, there are practical considerations related to social and economic factors that make it unfeasible at present.
- P1: One of the primary arguments against such schemes is the potential impact on inflation. If the government were to introduce a system of universal income, it would require the creation of additional money, leading to an increase in prices for goods and services. This inflationary effect would undermine the intended benefits of the policy. Additionally, since countries have varied economic distributions, providing the same amount of money to all citizens, regardless of their individual circumstances, could disrupt the local economy's equilibrium.
- P2: Moreover, implementing a basic income system may inadvertently reinforce existing social inequalities. Middle-class individuals, who typically possess greater financial knowledge and access to resources, could potentially leverage the additional income more effectively.
