    IELTS Speaking part 2

    1. Đề bài

Describe a piece of technology you own that you feel difficult to use.

    You should say:

    • What it is
    • When you got it
    • How often you use it
    • And explain how you feel about it

    2. Câu trả lời tham khảo

A piece of technology that I own that might be difficult to use is probably my desktop computer.

I know that in some ways a computer is easy to use, but I’ll explain why mine is quite difficult at first, at least for most people. You see, I bought a special set-up from the computer market because I am a huge fan of gaming – and the games I play require a lot of fast memory and a lot of power – so the computer has some top of the range graphics cards in it, and needs to be set up in a certain way. In fact, depending on what game I need to play, I need to make some hardware changes – change certain boards inside for others, and rig up a cooling system. See… it’s sounding complicated already!

So, you see, at first I found this quite hard to get to grips with and I had to watch a few online videos and ask for some advice along the way. Then I had to do some very basic programming stuff to set it up – so the whole thing worked properly. I’m not sure how to explain that process, but anyway. I use the computer almost daily. When I’ve finished my studies and other things I need to do, I get going and start playing. I sometimes play games with people from all over the world and I play these open-world huge fantasy games.

My characters are a wizard and a warrior. I love this one particular game so much – it’s also quite complex to get used to, but when you know how to play, it’s fantastic – I can spend literally hours on end playing it. Sometimes my parents get annoyed because I spend so long on my computer, but to be honest, I’m quite disciplined with my studies, and don’t have much of an outside social life, so I manage my time pretty well. So, generally my hobby doesn’t interfere with other important aspects of my life.

    • easy to use: dễ sử dụng

    • hard to get to grips with: khó nắm bắt
    • disciplined: kỷ luật
    • outside social life: cuộc sống xã hội
    • interfere: can thiệp, gây trở ngại

    IELTS Speaking part 3

    1. Does the development of technology affect the way we study? How?

Yes, the development of technology has significantly impacted the way we study. For example, with the advent of the internet, students now have access to a vast amount of information at their fingertips. Online resources, such as educational videos, articles, and interactive courses, have made learning more flexible and personalized. Additionally, tools like digital textbooks and educational apps have transformed traditional methods of studying, allowing students to engage with content in a more interactive way. This not only makes learning more efficient but also more engaging, which can lead to better retention of information.

    2. What changes has the development of technology brought about in our lives?

Technology has revolutionized almost every aspect of our lives. Communication has become faster and more convenient, thanks to smartphones and social media platforms. We can now stay connected with people across the globe in real-time. In addition, technology has transformed industries, such as healthcare, where telemedicine and advanced diagnostic tools have improved patient care. In our daily lives, the convenience of online shopping, smart home devices, and the ease of accessing entertainment on demand are just a few examples of how technology has reshaped our routines. Overall, it has made our lives more connected, efficient, and accessible.

    3. Why are people so keen on buying iPhones even though they haven’t changed much from one to the next?

I think there are several reasons for this. Firstly, Apple has established a strong brand identity that is associated with quality, innovation, and prestige. Many people see owning an iPhone as a status symbol, and they want to be associated with the brand's image. Secondly, iPhones are known for their reliability and user-friendly interface, which creates a loyal customer base that is reluctant to switch to other brands. Even if the changes from one model to the next are incremental, users trust that they are getting a high-quality product. Lastly, Apple's marketing strategies, including the hype they create around new releases, play a significant role in driving demand, even if the upgrades are not groundbreaking.

    4. Why do technology companies keep upgrading their products?

Technology companies are in a highly competitive market, so they need to keep innovating to stay relevant. By upgrading their products, they can attract new customers and retain existing ones by offering improved features, better performance, and enhanced user experiences. Continuous upgrades also allow companies to capitalize on the latest technological advancements, ensuring their products remain at the forefront of the industry. Moreover, frequent upgrades create a sense of urgency among consumers to purchase the latest version, which boosts sales and keeps the company profitable.

    5. What technological products do people currently use?

People today use a wide range of technological products in their daily lives. Smartphones, laptops, and tablets are probably the most common, as they are essential for communication, work, and entertainment. Wearable technology, like smartwatches and fitness trackers, has also become increasingly popular for health monitoring. Additionally, smart home devices, such as voice-activated assistants, security cameras, and smart thermostats, are now widely used to make household management more convenient. On a broader scale, electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions like solar panels are technological products that are gaining traction as people become more environmentally conscious.

    6. Why do big companies introduce new products frequently?

Big companies introduce new products frequently to maintain their competitive edge and keep their brand at the forefront of consumers' minds. In a fast-paced market, staying relevant requires constant innovation and the ability to offer something new that appeals to changing consumer needs and preferences. Frequent product launches also help companies to tap into new market segments, increase their market share, and drive revenue growth. Moreover, introducing new products regularly allows companies to showcase their commitment to innovation, which strengthens their brand reputation and customer loyalty.

    7. Why are people so keen on buying iPhones even though they haven’t changed much?

As mentioned earlier, the appeal of iPhones goes beyond just the technical specifications. Apple's brand loyalty is incredibly strong, and many users are emotionally invested in the ecosystem. The iPhone's design, user interface, and seamless integration with other Apple products create a cohesive experience that users are reluctant to leave. Furthermore, the social aspect of owning the latest iPhone cannot be overlooked—people want to feel up-to-date and in sync with technological trends, even if the changes are minor. Apple's ability to generate excitement through its marketing also plays a big role in this phenomenon.

    8. Does the development of technology affect the way we study?

Absolutely. Technology has transformed education by making it more accessible and personalized. Students can now take online courses from top universities around the world without leaving their homes. Additionally, interactive tools like virtual classrooms and simulation software have made learning more dynamic and engaging. Even traditional classroom settings have benefited from technology, with tools like smartboards and digital assessments enhancing the teaching and learning experience. Overall, technology has made education more flexible, allowing students to learn at their own pace and according to their individual needs.
