The pie charts illustrate the changing preferences of students regarding four different ways that courses could be conducted in 1984, 1994 and 2004.
Overall, it is clear that the introduction of distance learning affected the statistics of every type of course, with the exception of correspondence ones. Additionally, courses conducted in person remained the most popular option among students despite a slight decrease.
While face to face courses attracted the highest number of students compared to other types of courses, their popularity had certainly diminished, from two thirds of the student base in 1984 to barely more than a half in 1994 and 2004. Meanwhile, the proportion of students attending correspondence courses remained consistently at 20%, securing it the second place in all 3 years.
In 1984, mixed media courses were the least attended courses, at only 13%, whereas online courses were virtually nonexistent. However, when the latter became an option for students in 1994 and 2004, they assumed the bottom most position in place of the former as only 11% of the student base chose to attend them. In those years, 15% of the total number of students enrolled in mixed media courses, indicating a slight increase in preference compared to a decade earlier.
