Describe an occasion when you travelled and your vehicle broke down/ Describe a time that the vehicle broke down during your travel.
You should say:
I’m going to describe a time when my vehicle broke down while I was traveling. This happened last summer when I went on a motorbike trip with my best friend to a small town in the countryside. We had planned to spend the weekend exploring the area and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
The journey started smoothly, but after about two hours of riding, my motorbike suddenly stopped working in the middle of a quiet road. At first, I had no idea what went wrong. We tried restarting the engine, but it wouldn’t turn on. Since neither of us was good at fixing motorbikes, we had no choice but to call a mechanic. Luckily, there was a small repair shop about 5 kilometers away, and the mechanic agreed to come over.
We had to wait for almost an hour under the hot sun, which was quite frustrating. Eventually, the mechanic arrived and found that the battery had died. He replaced it, and within 30 minutes, we were back on the road.
Although this breakdown delayed our trip, I think it was a memorable experience. It taught me to always check my vehicle carefully before a long trip. It also made me appreciate the kindness of strangers, as the mechanic was really helpful and didn’t overcharge us. In the end, we still had a great trip, and the breakdown became a funny story to tell later.
I’d like to talk about a time when my family’s car broke down while we were traveling. This happened about two years ago, when we were on our way to a relative’s wedding in a different province.
We had left early in the morning to make sure we arrived on time. However, about halfway through the journey, our car suddenly started making a strange noise and then stopped completely on the side of the highway. My dad got out and checked under the hood, but he couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Since we were in the middle of nowhere, we called a roadside assistance service. Unfortunately, they said it would take them at least two hours to arrive. While waiting, we tried to stay positive by chatting and joking to pass the time. Eventually, the tow truck arrived, and we had to leave our car at a repair shop. To make sure we still got to the wedding, we hired a taxi for the rest of the journey.
This breakdown was quite stressful at first because we were afraid we would miss an important family event. However, in the end, we managed to arrive just in time for the ceremony. Looking back, it was a bit of an adventure, and it taught me the importance of having a backup plan when traveling.
