Some people think that there could be more benefit to society if more people studied business than history. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

We live in a golden age that empowers people to choose subjects in different educational institutions and search for information on nearly any imaginable topic. Some people argue that studying business can benefit society more than learning history, while I believe both subjects are equally important and should be placed in equal measure.
Business study can be beneficial to society in several ways. For one thing, it helps to create a more efficient and productive workforce. Business learners equipped with core skills in managing resources and personnel can bring increased productivity and profitability not only in infrastructures such as roads and railways but also in health facilities, shopping centers, and other public and private services. Additionally, learning business contributes to promoting economic development. Those who have studied business are more likely to start and run a successful business, which results in a more entrepreneurial culture to motivate the emergence of other businesses and a high level of employment rate.
On the other hand, studying history allows us to observe and understand how societies behaved. The historical data used to create laws or systems helps us to make proper decisions that create promising future for our societies. An illustration of this is that many countries evaluate national economies or wars by analyzing historical events. Moreover, learning history fosters a sense of identity and belonging. What our ancestors believed and how they fitted into society often reflects our own beliefs and conventions. Therefore, history allows us to understand our cultural heritage and facilitates a more cohesive and harmonious society.
In conclusion, both subjects should be equally prioritized to ensure the best possible outcome. Business study helps create a more productive workforce and prosperous economy while learning history develops our understanding of the past and establishes our identity.
