    Từ vựng hữu ích về chủ đề shopping

    - Advertising campaign: a series of advertisements to persuade people to buy something (chiến dịch quảng cáo)

    Ex: There's nothing like a good advertising campaign to boost sales.

    - Big brand names: large well-known companies or product names (những thương hiệu lớn)

    Ex: Other big name brands include Calvin Klein Jeans, Cue, M.J.

    - To be careful with money: to not over-spend (tiêu tiền một cách thận trọng, không tiêu quá nhiều)

    Ex: They are careful with money, especially if they have an irregular income.

    - Carrier bag: bags (usually plastic) supplied by shops (túi đựng đồ mua hàng được cung cấp bởi các cửa hàng)

    Ex: Large retailers in England have been charging 5p for single-use plastic carrier bags for nearly two years.

    - Customer service: the degree to which customers are treated well (dịch vụ khách hàng)

    Ex: I called customer service and sent them pictures as requested.

    - To get into debt: to owe money (có khoản nợ)

    Ex: But if a family spends all their savings in one day or gets into debt, it's a sign of a poverty mindset.

    - To give someone the hard sell: to put pressure on someone to buy something (tạo áp lực lên người khác để mua hàng hóa)

    Ex: 

    - I also get annoyed when shop assistants (shop keepers) try to give me the hard sell when all I want to do is look around.

    - They gave me the hard sell but it didn’t work.

    - To be a shopaholic: To be addicted to shopping (người nghiện mua sắm)

    Ex: She is such a shopaholic.

    - High street names: well-known shops (những cửa hàng nổi tiếng, được nhiều người biết đến)

    Ex: She fancies shopping in high street names.

    - To be on a tight budget: To have a limited amount of money to spend (thắt chặt chi tiêu, ngân sách eo hẹp)

    Ex: We are on a tight budget this month.

    - To catch the eye: To get someone’s attention, especially by looking at them. (thu hút sự chú ý của ai đó)

    Ex: That dress directly caught my eye.

    - To cost an arm and a leg: very expensive (rất đắt đỏ)

    Ex: I won’t buy it as it costs an arm and a leg.

    - To do the grocery shopping: Technically to buy fruit and vegetables, but normally used to mean to buy food and drinks for the household. (mua thực phẩm và đồ uống cho gia đình)

    Ex: We do the grocey shopping every week.

    - To go on a shopping spree: To go shopping and buys lots of items that you may not be able to afford. (mua sắm quá nhiều thứ mà bạn không có khả năng chi trả)

    Ex: Before you go on a shopping spree, here are some things you should factor in when choosing a gift for girls.

    - To indulge in some retail therapy: To go shopping to make yourself feel better (đi mua sắm để làm bản thân cảm thấy tốt hơn)

    Ex: She decided to indulge in some retail therapy.

    - Independent stores: small shops independent of large companies (cửa hàng nhỏ)

    Ex: In the face of increasing competition, independent stores urgently need to find effective solutions.

    - Local shops: community shops (cửa hàng địa phương)

    Ex: There needs to be more local shops.

    - Loyalty card: a card issued by a shop to allow customers to save money on the basis of what they spend (thẻ thành viên thân thiết)

    Ex: A double room costs €79.99 per night, but less if you have a loyalty card.

    - Must-have product: a product that is very popular that a lot of people want to have

    Ex: Apple was able to make smartphones into a must-have product for everybody, and it was expected to do the same thing for smartwatches.

    - To be on commission: to pay someone in relation to the amount they sell (trả tiền hoa hồng)

    Ex: Find out if there's a salary or if you're paid on commission.

    - A pay in cash: to pay for something using coins or paper money (trả bằng tiền mặt)

    Ex: Pay in cash if possible.

    - To pay the full price: to pay the full amount for something (mua hàng nguyên giá)

    Ex: Use the latest promotional codes and never pay the full price.       

    - To pick up a bargain: to buy something much cheaper than the normal price

    Ex: I’m so proud as I picked up a bargain yesterday.

    - To run up a credit card bill: to owe money on a credit card (nợ thẻ tín dụng)

    Ex: He runs up a credit card bill.

    - To shop around: to try different shops to find the best deal (thử nhiều cửa hàng khác nhau để tìm ra nơi bán giá tốt nhất)

    Ex: Let’s shop around and make up our mind then.

    - Shop assistant: the person who serves customers (nhân viên bán hàng)

    Ex: The shop assistant was extremely helpful.

    - To shop until you drop: to do a lot of shopping (mua sắm thả ga)

    Ex: Vincom is easily a place where you can shop until you drop.

    - To slash prices: to reduce prices a great deal: giảm giá mạnh

    Ex: In some cities, walking just a few blocks can slash prices at restaurants.

    - To snap up a bargain: to buy something quickly that is being sold cheaply (chộp mua một cách nhanh chóng vì giá hời)

    Ex: Shoppers snapped up bargains at its closing-down sales.

    - Summer sales: a period in the year when things are sold cheaply (mùa giảm giá)

    Ex: It's that time of year when the summer sales are starting.

    - To try something on: to see if an item of clothing fits or is suitable (thử quần áo)

    Ex: Shopping used to be horrific, but now when I try something on, I know I'm not going to cry.

    - To be value for money: to be worth the cost (đáng giá tiền)

    Ex: Do you agree that it is not value for money?

    - Window shopping: to visit a store to look at items without the intention of buying anything (ngắm đồ chứ không mua)

    Ex: After a little light window-shopping, I had dinner in a super-stylish Japanese restaurant.
