Describe a special meal that someone made for you
You should say:

I’m going to talk about a special meal that my mom made for me a few months ago. It was after I had finished my university entrance exams, and she wanted to celebrate the end of such a stressful period for me. My mom is a great cook, and she decided to prepare all of my favorite dishes for this occasion.
She cooked this meal on a Saturday afternoon, and it took her several hours to prepare everything. I remember coming home after running some errands, and the whole house smelled amazing. She made pho, which is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup, and she also cooked some nem ran (fried spring rolls) as a side dish. I’ve always loved pho because it’s a comforting dish that reminds me of my childhood, and my mom’s version is the best I’ve ever tasted.
The reason she made this meal was to congratulate me for all the hard work I had put into my studies. She knew that I had been feeling anxious about the exams, so she wanted to cheer me up and let me know that she was proud of me no matter what the results were.
I felt really touched and grateful for the meal. It wasn’t just about the food itself but the effort and care that my mom put into making it. It made me feel loved and supported, and it turned an ordinary day into something special. It’s a meal that I’ll always remember.

From my perspective, vegetarians make a healthy and conscious choice. From what I’ve heard, a vegetarian diet can be good for both health and the environment. I respect people who follow this lifestyle because it takes discipline. Personally, I don’t think I could completely give up meat, but I do try to eat more vegetables and reduce meat consumption. In Vietnam, being vegetarian is often linked to religious beliefs, especially in Buddhism, so it’s quite accepted here.
Yes, definitely. There are people who avoid meat for their entire lives, often for religious or ethical reasons. For example, many Buddhists in Vietnam practice vegetarianism for spiritual reasons. Some people choose not to eat meat because they care about animal rights or the environment. And then, there are those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet for health reasons, as they believe it’s better for their bodies in the long term.
In Vietnam, fast food like fried chicken from KFC or Lotteria is quite popular, especially among young people. Burgers from places like McDonald's have also become trendy in recent years. But aside from international chains, we have local fast food too, like bánh mì, which is a Vietnamese sandwich, or phở to-go. These are quick, affordable options that are very popular for people on the move.
Yes, many people in Vietnam enjoy watching cooking shows to learn new recipes. TV shows like "MasterChef Vietnam" or "Vua Đầu Bếp" are very popular. Also, there are lots of YouTube channels where local chefs share recipes, and people love trying out the dishes at home. Learning to cook through TV shows or online videos is becoming more common, especially as more people look for ways to prepare traditional meals or try international recipes.
I believe so. As people get older, they often become more health-conscious. For example, they might try to cut down on sugar or fried food to avoid health problems like diabetes or heart disease. I’ve noticed that older people in Vietnam tend to eat more fruits, vegetables, and soups. They also tend to eat less spicy or salty food, probably because their bodies can’t handle it as well as when they were younger.
Yes, I would argue that students should learn basic cooking skills at school. It’s a practical skill that everyone needs in their daily life, especially when they move out and start living on their own. Cooking also teaches students about nutrition and healthy eating habits, which is important for their well-being. Plus, learning to cook could even be fun and creative for them, especially if they get to try making different types of food.
