    IELTS Speaking part 2

    1. Đề bài

Describe a subject that you would like to learn in the future

    You should say:

    • What it is
    • Where and how you want to learn it
    • Why you want to learn it
    • And explain if it will be difficult to learn it

    2. Sample anwer 1

I’d like to talk about a subject I’d really like to learn in the future, which is photography. Even though I’ve never been particularly good at taking photos, I’ve always admired people who can capture beautiful moments or scenery in a picture. Photography seems like a creative skill that allows you to express your perspective in a unique way.

I would like to learn photography at a proper photography class or workshop, perhaps at a local art center or even online if there’s a good course available. I imagine I would start by learning the basics of how to use a camera, how to adjust lighting, and how to frame a shot properly. Eventually, I’d like to practice outside, taking pictures in different settings like nature or cityscapes.

The reason I want to learn photography is because I think it’s an amazing way to preserve memories and tell stories through images. Nowadays, everything is visual, and I’d love to be able to take photos that truly capture the essence of a moment. It’s also a skill that could be useful in many situations, whether it’s for personal projects or even professional use.

I do think photography might be difficult to learn at first, especially the technical side of things like camera settings and editing software. However, I believe that with enough practice and dedication, I’d be able to improve and eventually take photos that I’m proud of.

    3. Sample answer 2

One subject I'm increasingly eager to explore is artificial intelligence, or AI, as it's reshaping virtually every aspect of our lives. My main interest lies in understanding how AI algorithms are developed and how they can be applied to solve real-world problems.

I plan to take an online course from a reputable platform like Coursera or edX because they partner with esteemed universities that offer cutting-edge AI programs. These courses are not only flexible but also meticulously structured, providing interactive content such as videos, quizzes, and peer-reviewed assignments. Additionally, I aim to supplement my online learning with practical experience by engaging in projects or internships. This hands-on approach will help solidify my understanding of the theoretical aspects covered online.

My motivation to delve into AI stems from its vast potential and its impact on the future. From healthcare to finance, AI is revolutionizing industries, making processes more efficient and data-driven decisions more accurate. By mastering AI, I hope to contribute to technological advancements and address complex challenges within my community.

However, I am under no illusion about the difficulty of learning AI. It encompasses complex mathematical concepts and requires proficiency in programming languages like Python. Despite these challenges, I am committed to pushing through these challenges. My strategy includes starting with foundational courses to build up my math skills and gradually advancing to more complex topics. With determination and the right resources, I believe I can manage the learning curve and eventually excel in the field.

    IELTS Speaking part 3

    1. What are the differences between online learning and offline learning?

I think the biggest difference is the environment. With online learning, you can study from anywhere, like at home or in a café, while offline learning usually happens in a classroom. Another difference is the interaction. In offline classes, you can interact with teachers and classmates directly, which helps you stay more engaged. On the other hand, online learning is more flexible, but it can be a bit isolating at times, and it’s easy to get distracted without a structured schedule.

    • offline learning /ˈɒf.laɪn ˈlɜː.nɪŋ/: học truyền thống
    • interaction /ˌɪn.təˈræk.ʃən/: sự tương tác
    • engaged /ɪnˈɡeɪdʒd/: tham gia
    • flexible /ˈflɛk.sɪ.bəl/: linh hoạt
    • isolating /ˈaɪ.səˌleɪ.tɪŋ/: cô lập
    • distracted /dɪˈstræk.tɪd/: phân tâm
    • structured schedule /ˈstrʌk.tʃərd ˈskɛdʒ.uːl/: lịch trình có cấu trúc

    2. Do you prefer to study alone or with a group of people?

Honestly, I prefer to study alone. It gives me more control over my time, and I can focus better without distractions. But I do see the value of studying in a group, especially when it comes to sharing ideas and solving problems. If I’m struggling with something, discussing it with friends can really help. So, I’d say it depends on the situation, but overall, I enjoy studying alone more.

    • control over my time /kənˈtroʊl ˈoʊ.vər maɪ taɪm/: kiểm soát thời gian của tôi
    • distractions /dɪˈstræk.ʃənz/: sự phân tâm
    • value of studying in a group /ˈvæl.juː ʌv ˈstʌd.i.ɪŋ ɪn ə ɡruːp/: giá trị của việc học nhóm
    • sharing ideas /ˈʃɛərɪŋ aɪˈdiːəz/: chia sẻ ý tưởng
    • solving problems /ˈsɒlvɪŋ ˈprɒbləmz/: giải quyết vấn đề
    • struggling /ˈstrʌɡ.lɪŋ/: gặp khó khăn
    • discussing with friends /dɪsˈkʌsɪŋ wɪð frɛndz/: thảo luận với bạn bè

    3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of learning in a group?

One of the advantages of group learning is that you can benefit from other people’s ideas and perspectives, which might help you understand something better. It’s also good for motivation because you’re working together towards a common goal. However, the downside is that it can be distracting if some members aren’t serious or if the group gets off-topic. Another disadvantage is that sometimes, you might feel pressured to follow the group’s pace, which might not match your own.

    • benefit from others’ ideas /ˈbɛnɪfɪt frəm ˈʌðərz aɪˈdiːəz/: hưởng lợi từ ý tưởng của người khác
    • motivation /ˌmoʊ.tɪˈveɪ.ʃən/: động lực
    • common goal /ˈkɒm.ən ɡoʊl/: mục tiêu chung
    • distracting /dɪˈstræk.tɪŋ/: gây phân tâm
    • off-topic /ˌɔːfˈtɒp.ɪk/: ngoài chủ đề
    • pressure to follow the group’s pace /ˈprɛʃər tə ˈfɒl.oʊ ðə ɡruːp's peɪs/: áp lực phải theo kịp tốc độ của nhóm

    4. What subjects do most young people prefer to learn? Why?

I would argue that many young people today are really interested in subjects like technology, business, and design. Technology is becoming more and more important in our daily lives, so learning about things like coding or digital marketing is seen as a good way to secure a job in the future. Business and entrepreneurship are also popular because a lot of young people dream of starting their own businesses. These subjects offer practical skills that are highly relevant in today’s job market.

    • digital marketing /ˈdɪdʒɪtəl ˈmɑːrkɪtɪŋ/: tiếp thị kỹ thuật số
    • business /ˈbɪz.nɪs/: kinh doanh
    • entrepreneurship /ˌɒn.trə.prəˈnɜːr.ʃɪp/: khởi nghiệp
    • practical skills /ˈpræk.tɪ.kəl skɪlz/: kỹ năng thực tiễn
    • job market /dʒɒb ˈmɑːrkɪt/: thị trường việc làm

    5. What is more important when choosing a job, high salary or interest?

Personally, I think interest is more important. If you enjoy what you do, you’re more likely to stay motivated and perform well in your job. In the long run, this could lead to better career opportunities. A high salary is tempting, of course, but if you’re not happy with your work, the money won’t make up for the stress or boredom. That being said, it’s important to find a balance because financial stability is necessary, especially if you have responsibilities.

    • motivation /ˌmoʊ.tɪˈveɪ.ʃən/: động lực
    • career opportunities /kəˈrɪər ˌɒp.əˈtjuː.nə.tiz/: cơ hội nghề nghiệp
    • high salary /haɪ ˈsælər.i/: lương cao
    • stress /strɛs/: căng thẳng
    • boredom /ˈbɔːr.dəm/: sự chán nản
    • financial stability /faɪˈnæn.ʃəl stəˈbɪl.ɪ.ti/: sự ổn định tài chính
    • responsibilities /rɪˌspɒn.sɪˈbɪl.ɪ.tiz/: trách nhiệm

    6. What do you think about face-to-face learning with teachers?

I really appreciate face-to-face learning with teachers. It gives me a chance to ask questions and get immediate feedback, which helps me learn more effectively. The interaction also makes the learning process more engaging and personal. You can read the teacher’s body language, hear their tone, and even discuss topics in more depth. It’s definitely more dynamic compared to online learning, in my opinion.

    • appreciate /əˈpriː.ʃi.eɪt/: đánh giá cao
    • immediate feedback /ɪˈmiː.di.ət ˈfiːd.bæk/: phản hồi ngay lập tức
    • engaging /ɪnˈɡeɪ.dʒɪŋ/: lôi cuốn
    • personal /ˈpɜːr.sən.əl/: cá nhân
    • body language /ˈbɒd.i ˈlæŋ.ɡwɪdʒ/: ngôn ngữ cơ thể
    • tone /toʊn/: giọng điệu
    • dynamic /daɪˈnæm.ɪk/: năng động

    7. What’s the most popular thing to learn nowadays?

I think one of the most popular things to learn right now is anything related to technology, like coding, data analysis, or artificial intelligence. As technology keeps advancing, more people are interested in developing skills that will help them in this field. Besides that, soft skills like communication or leadership are also gaining attention, as they’re essential in almost every career path.

    • data analysis /ˈdeɪ.tə əˈnæl.ɪ.sɪs/: phân tích dữ liệu
    • artificial intelligence /ˌɑːr.tɪˈfɪʃ.əl ɪnˈtɛlɪ.dʒəns/: trí tuệ nhân tạo
    • soft skills /sɒft skɪlz/: kỹ năng mềm
    • communication /kəˌmjuː.nɪˈkeɪ.ʃən/: giao tiếp
    • leadership /ˈliː.dər.ʃɪp/: lãnh đạo
    • career path /kəˈrɪər pæθ/: con đường sự nghiệp

    8. At what age should children start making their own decisions? Why?

I believe children should start making some decisions around the age of 10 or 11. At this age, they’re mature enough to understand the consequences of their choices, but they still need guidance from their parents. Making small decisions, like choosing their hobbies or deciding how to spend their free time, helps them develop independence and problem-solving skills. As they grow older, they can take on more responsibility and make bigger decisions.

    • making decisions /ˈmeɪ.kɪŋ dɪˈsɪʒ.ənz/: đưa ra quyết định
    • mature enough /məˈtʊr ɪˈnʌf/: đủ trưởng thành
    • consequences /ˈkɒn.sɪ.kwənsɪz/: hậu quả
    • guidance /ˈɡaɪ.dəns/: sự hướng dẫn
    • independence /ˌɪn.dɪˈpɛn.dəns/: sự độc lập
    • problem-solving skills /ˈprɒb.ləm ˈsɒlvɪŋ skɪlz/: kỹ năng giải quyết vấn đề

    9. Which makes young people choose a major, income or interest?

From what I’ve seen, most young people choose a major based on their interest. They want to study something that excites them or that they’re passionate about. However, income is still a big factor for many, especially when thinking about the future job market. I think it depends on the individual. Some people are willing to prioritize their passion, while others are more practical and choose a major that promises a stable, well-paying career.

    • income /ˈɪn.kəm/: thu nhập
    • future job market /ˈfjuː.tʃər dʒɒb ˈmɑːrkɪt/: thị trường việc làm trong tương lai
    • passion /ˈpæʃ.ən/: đam mê
    • stable career /ˈsteɪ.bəl kəˈrɪər/: sự nghiệp ổn định

    10. Do young people take their parents’ advice on choosing a major?

Yes, I think a lot of young people do take their parents’ advice, especially in Vietnam where family plays an important role in decision-making. Parents often have more life experience, so their opinions are valued. However, there are also young people who prefer to follow their own path and choose a major that matches their personal interests, even if it’s different from what their parents suggest.

    • take their parents’ advice /teɪk ðɛər ˈpɛər.ənts ædˈvaɪs/: nghe lời khuyên của cha mẹ
    • family plays an important role /ˈfæm.ɪ.li pleɪz ən ɪmˈpɔː.tənt roʊl/: gia đình đóng vai trò quan trọng
    • life experience /laɪf ɪksˈpɪər.i.əns/: kinh nghiệm sống

    11. Besides parents, who else would people take advice from?

Besides parents, I believe that young people often seek advice from teachers, older siblings, or friends. Teachers are seen as experienced and knowledgeable, so their advice is respected. Older siblings, if they’ve gone through similar experiences, can also offer valuable insights. Friends are important too, but I think their advice is more about sharing opinions rather than giving formal guidance.

    • seek advice /siːk ædˈvaɪs/: tìm kiếm lời khuyên
    • valuable insights /ˈvæl.juː.ə.bəl ˈɪn.saɪts/: cái nhìn quý giá
    • sharing opinions /ˈʃɛərɪŋ əˈpɪn.jənz/: chia sẻ quan điểm
    • formal guidance /ˈfɔːr.məl ˈɡaɪ.dəns/: sự hướng dẫn chính thức

    12. Why do some people prefer to study alone?

Some people prefer to study alone because it allows them to concentrate better without distractions. When you’re alone, you can focus entirely on your own work and go at your own pace, which is great for people who like to take their time understanding difficult concepts. Studying alone also gives you more control over your schedule and how you organize your time, which can be really effective for some learners.

    • distractions /dɪˈstræk.ʃənz/: sự phân tâm
    • own pace /oʊn peɪs/: tốc độ của riêng bạn
    • organize your time /ˈɔːrɡənaɪz jʊər taɪm/: tổ chức thời gian của bạn
