One sport that I have only watched but never played myself is badminton. Badminton is a very popular sport in Vietnam, played with racquets and a shuttlecock, where players try to hit the shuttlecock over a net and into the opponent's court.
The first time I watched badminton was during the SEA Games in 2019. It was a particularly exciting event because the SEA Games were held in the Philippines that year, and the Vietnamese team had a strong chance of winning medals in badminton.
I watched the match on television at my grandparents' house. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the whole family had gathered for a weekend meal. After lunch, we all settled down in the living room to watch the badminton finals.
I watched the game with my parents, my grandparents, and my younger sister. My grandfather is a big fan of badminton and he was very enthusiastic, explaining the rules and the techniques of the players as the match progressed. My sister and I were fascinated by the speed and agility of the players, as well as the intense rallies that kept us on the edge of our seats.
Watching badminton made me feel a sense of pride and excitement. The Vietnamese players were performing exceptionally well, and the atmosphere was electric with every point they scored. I was also amazed by the players' quick reflexes and precise movements, which made the game so dynamic and engaging. The match was very competitive, and I could feel the tension and excitement building up as it reached the final points.

Alright, the sport that's always fascinated me, but I haven't had the chance to play myself, is Curling.
I first saw Curling during the Winter Olympics a few years back. I was at home, watching it with my whole family. We were all captivated by the strategic movements and the surprising amount of finesse required.
It was such a unique sport! The way the players sweep the ice to control the speed of the stones, the tension as they try to knock their opponents' stones out of the house, and the focus and precision needed for each throw – it was all so intriguing.
Honestly, I felt a mix of excitement and amusement watching Curling. The athleticism of the players was undeniable, but the whole thing also had a sense of lighthearted fun to it, especially with the way the teams would sometimes slide across the ice themselves.
It definitely sparked my curiosity about the sport. I'd love to try it someday and experience the strategy and teamwork involved firsthand.

In the future, I would love to try playing tennis. It seems like a very dynamic and physically demanding sport, which would be a great way to stay fit. Moreover, tennis requires a lot of strategy and quick thinking, which I find very appealing. I also enjoy the idea of playing a sport that can be both competitive and social, as you can play singles for a tougher challenge or doubles for a more relaxed, fun experience with friends.
2. Why do so many athletes join the advertising industry?
Many athletes join the advertising industry because it offers them a lucrative opportunity to capitalize on their fame and success. Advertisers seek out athletes due to their wide reach and influence, as they can effectively promote products to a large audience. Additionally, athletes often embody qualities such as determination, resilience, and a healthy lifestyle, which are attractive attributes for various brands. For athletes, participating in advertisements can also help them build a personal brand and secure their financial future after their sports career ends.
3. What are the features of people that watch sports games online, such as gender or age?
The demographic of people who watch sports games online is quite diverse. Generally, it includes a broad age range from teenagers to middle-aged adults. However, younger viewers, particularly those in their twenties and thirties, are more inclined to stream sports games online due to their familiarity with technology and preference for on-demand content. In terms of gender, traditionally more men have been interested in watching sports, but this trend is changing as more women are engaging in sports viewership, reflecting a growing interest across both genders. Additionally, online platforms often attract viewers from various cultural and social backgrounds, contributing to a more global audience.
4. What's the most popular sport in your country?
In Vietnam, the most popular sport by far is football, or soccer as it's known in some countries. Football is deeply ingrained in Vietnamese culture, and it unites people of all ages and backgrounds. Major football matches, especially when the national team is playing, are highly anticipated events, often bringing the entire nation together to support the team. The passion for football is evident in the numerous local leagues, the presence of football clubs in almost every community, and the large crowds that gather to watch matches on TV or in stadiums.
5. What kinds of sports are popular now but not popular 50 years ago?
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, but I think one sport that has become quite popular now is running. Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of running events in Vietnam, catering to all age groups. From marathons to fun runs, these events are drawing more and more participants who are interested in improving their health and fitness. This trend seems to have grown significantly compared to fifty years ago, when organized running events were not as common.
6. Do you think there are too many sorts of sports games on TV?
I don't think there are too many sports games on TV; rather, I believe there is a healthy variety that caters to diverse interests. Having multiple sports broadcasts allows viewers to choose what they enjoy the most, whether it's mainstream sports like football and basketball or niche sports like curling or handball. This diversity also promotes a broader appreciation for different types of athletic skills and traditions. However, it’s important for broadcasters to balance the schedule so that popular sports don’t overshadow lesser-known ones, ensuring all sports have a chance to be seen and appreciated.
